Early Christmas

December 12, 2014

Taking advantage of the annual three-week-long break over the Christmas holidays in South Africa, M and I planned a pretty epic trip for this year's excursion (details are coming soon, I promise!). The night before leaving, we had a little "Early Christmas" celebration complete with champagne, Christmas crackers and a few presents. We seem to have acquired a bit of a hybrid of southern and northern-hemisphere holiday traditions- since cooking a turkey in 30°C heat is not exactly my idea of fun, we rather picked up a roasted chicken from Woolies and ate outside. And since I couldn't have "Christmas" without hot chocolate, I made sure to add some Amarula in it.

Cheers to Christmas in the Southern hemisphere and sunshine instead of snow!

Champagne and strawberry cocktail...it was so good it deserved its own photo.

It's a rough life, really.

Christmas dinner.

I think we bought the only poinsettia at Woolies...

Opening presents. We still took stockings and gifts with us for Christmas morning, these were just the things that wouldn't fit, were too impractical to take with, or that we wanted to have early to use for the trip. And besides, do we really need an excuse to open gifts? Didn't think so.
